Our thoughts on compensation & related issues

The Role of the Compensation Function in Gender Pay Equity

Without debating the accuracy of that statistic or its causes, we wanted to provide a refresher on the legislative and regulatory environment for compensation professionals and the role, responsibilities and scope of effectiveness for the compensation function itself.

2020 Salary Increase Projections

RSC reviewed several sources of 2019 pay planning information and compiled the summary statistics we believe are most relevant and helpful. The projections reported for 2019 are consistent with the actual results over the past several years – average total salary increase budgets are projected to be around 3.0%.

WorldatWork reports an average projected total salary increase of 3.1% to 3.2% across employee types.

2020 Executive Compensation/Retirement Social Security and IRC Limits

The Social Security Administration and Internal Revenue Service have announced the 2019 limits that affect the operation of tax-qualified retirement plans, including 401(k) plans, and certain other types of employee benefit plans, including SERPs and deferred executive compensation plans that may be subject to Internal Revenue Code §409A.
